The 2026 Sunset Review is a critical moment for CCIDC and for the Certified Interior Designer credential. Legislative decisions made during this process will determine whether the CID Title Act is extended and how your certification is viewed and protected going forward.
CCIDC is doing the work at the Capitol, and CID participation matters. Here is how you can help strengthen the case for certification and title protection.
1. Write a Letter of Support
Certified Interior Designers are encouraged to submit letters of support to the Sunset Review Committee members. Personal letters from practicing professionals carry real weight and help legislators understand why CCIDC and the CID Title Act matter.
Sample letters are provided below for your convenience. Letters should be submitted prior to the March 24, 2026 Sunset Review hearing date, which is to be determined by the Committee. The hearing is most likely scheduled for the fourth Tuesday in March. CCIDC will notify CIDs as soon as the official date is announced.
2. Show Up and Be Counted at the Hearing
Participation matters. Certified Interior Designers are encouraged to attend or call in to the March Sunset Review hearing in support of CCIDC and certification.
Your presence demonstrates to legislators that CIDs are engaged, informed, and invested in maintaining professional standards and public protection. CCIDC will share hearing details, including how to attend or participate remotely, as soon as they are available.
3. Contact Your Local Representatives
Reach out to your State Senator and Assembly Member and let them know you support CCIDC and the CID Title Act it administers. Ask them to support extending the Sunset Date for an additional four years.
Legislators need to hear directly from constituents who are affected by these decisions. A brief email or phone call can make a meaningful impact.
