Coronavirus Update for Certified Interior Designers

While California continues to navigate the uncertainty of the (COVID-19) coronavirus  and limit its spread, CCIDC, Inc. is committed to supporting our Certified Interior Designers, applicants, and consumers throughout the course of this pandemic and to provide continuity of service at all times. CCIDC is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation to protect the health of Californians. We appreciate your patience as we work remotely and adhere to social distancing guidelines. We apologize in advance for any delays in reaching our staff or potential delays in our processing times.

We have received inquiries from our Certified Interior Designers and are providing the below FAQ’s to provide updated information.

Frequently Asked Questions Regarding CCIDC and The COVID-19 Pandemic

Q. Are There Fee Waivers Available?
A. Currently, the law does not allow for a waiver of renewal fees. CCIDC will waive late/reactivation fees until April 31, 2020.

Q. Can I Go Inactive Or Put My Certification On Hold?
A. Currently, the law does not allow for Inactive accounts. You are either current or delinquent. CCIDC can arrange a
short payment plan to avoid falling into delinquent status.

Q. Will Continuing Education (CEU) Requirements Be Postponed?
A. Currently, the law does not allow for a postponement of CEU requirements.

Q. Will The Spring IDEX® Exam Be Postponed?
A. The Spring IDEX® Exam will be held as scheduled. CCIDC and Scantron have worked together to provide candidates with a Live Online Proctoring Exam available to be taken at home. Candidates unable to sit for the Spring IDEX® Exam will be allowed to transfer to the Fall 2020 Exam window at no additional cost (must notify Scantron 2-Days in advance of Exam Date).

Q. Should My Business or Practice Remain Open?
A. The Board does not have authority to close businesses or practices solely as a result of COVID-19. We strongly encourage you to assess whether your business is an essential job function as outlined by the Governor and follow the guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Check with your local county health department to determine what activities are also considered essential and non-essential. The best general guidance will continue to come from the California Department of Public Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the World Health Organization.

Q. Is The CCIDC Office Closed for Business, How Do I Contact Them?
A. The physical CCIDC office is closed, but the staff is working remotely. We are unable to answer phone calls, but can be reached via email, during regular CCIDC business hours. To contact the office via email: ccidc@ccidc.org or IDEX® Candidates please email idex@ccidc.org.

Q.  Where Can I Find More Information?
A.  CCIDC will continue to send out the eNews emails with information.
