CCIDC Compassion In Design Project
As a part of CCIDC’s 2020 Vision plan, we are starting our Compassion In Design program; to reach out to the Design Community, Design Students and in turn Outreach to the communities we live and work in.
The CCIDC, June 5, 2021, Annual Board Meeting will be held in the Sacramento area, the CCIDC Board wanted a creative way to help local design students, engage more of the local design firms, and give back to the local community, in order to promote new Annual Business Meeting format.
This year’s Compassion In Design project will team local Design Students with local Design Firms to help local community non-profit programs in need of minor renovation projects.
All Design students from the Sacramento area colleges are encouraged to fill out the interest form and submit their plans for consideration. One winner for each project will be selected to work with a local Design Firm sponsoring their project, plus receive a $500 Scholarship and a free IDEX Exam from CCIDC.
The winners will be announced at the June 5, 2021 CCIDC Annual Business Meeting Award Luncheon. Submissions must be received by May 15, 2021. Students may submit for all 3 projects, but can only win once. The projects will be scheduled for completion at a date after the awards that works best for the parties involved.
Design firms who wish to sponsor a student and local non-profit organization, please fill out the sponsorship form. You will work with the student and the non-profit agency directly to complete the project. Details and more information will be provided with completed sponsorship forms.
For full details about the community programs selected, to sign up, become a sponsor or just donate, visit the COMPASSION IN DESIGN page on our website.

Spring 2020 IDEX® Exam & COVID-19
In preparation of the Spring 2020 IDEX® Exam testing period that is scheduled May 1 – 31, 2020, CCIDC and Scantron have enable Live Online Proctoring for IDEX® Candidates to take their Exam in the privacy of their own home rather than needing to sit in a testing center.
In addition, Scantron has changed their policy to allowing candidates to schedule & reschedule from four days prior to he date of the exam, until 2 days prior to the date of the exam. Candidates who wish to reschedule to the Fall 2020 Exam period, please contact the Certification Coordinator for more information.

IDEX® California Examination Updates
The IDEX® California Examination was first introduced in 2009, with every exam the test is reviewed by Psychometricians to ensure validity. With each code cycle the IDEX® is reviewed and updated as needed. In 2014 the entire exam was again reviewed by Subject Matter Experts and the Psychometric Team at Castle Worldwide to verify the questions were not only valid but relevant to the ever-changing design profession.
Once again CCIDC is taking on a major update of the IDEX® California Examination. CCIDC along with Scantron (formerly Castle Worldwide) and the International Code Council (ICC) will have Psychometricians and teams of Subject Matter Experts review, revise and expand the IDEX®.
The updated exam has now been scheduled to be offered in the SPRING 2021 Exam window. (This has changed from the Fall 2020 exam window due unforeseen delays related to the COVID-19 pandemic).
The California Council for Interior Design Certification mission is to promote the standard for interior designers in the State of California “Public protection through examination and Certification”.
