CEU Report
“Your Internet Presence” The ease & importance of having a website for your interior design business.
The CEU at the board meeting on May 14th was very well received. It covered all of the things you need to know in order to start your very own simple web site without getting into a lot of technical jargon. This was Internet "speak" for lay people. The presenters even showed live online web sites as examples of what to do and what not to do during the presentation. This presentation also attracted those who already had web sites but were looking for ways to improve them and make them more effective. They even went directly online to a designer’s web site in order to answer her questions.

This is a must CEU presentation for anyone thinking of an Internet "Presence". As the presenters pointed out, where else could you get your message and your work before the world 24/7, 365 days a year for such a small investment. Even when you are asleep, someone could be visiting your web site and looking at your work. Look for this class at a CCIDC board meeting near you.

Obama signs 1099 repeal into law
President Obama (April 5, 2011) signed into law legislation to repeal new Form 1099 reporting requirements deemed overly burdensome by associations and businesses of all sizes.

The legislation (H.R. 4) repeals a provision in the new healthcare law that would have required all businesses and tax-exempt organizations to issue a Form 1099 for payments for goods and services totaling $600 or more annually. ASAE and many committed association members argued that the change could have resulted in associations having to issue hundreds or even thousands of forms each year, track cumulative payments to vendors, and obtain tax identification information from each vendor. The 1099 repeal bill passed the House in early March and was approved by a wide margin in the Senate April 5.

“Small business owners are the engine of our economy and because Democrats and Republicans worked together, we can ensure they spend their time and resources creating jobs and growing their business, not filling out more paperwork,” Obama said at the signing.

The $22 billion cost of the repeal is paid for by requiring people making 400 percent of the federal poverty limit to repay health insurance exchange subsidies if their income increases over the course of a year.

ASAE advocated strongly for repeal of the expanded 1099 reporting requirements since last summer and applauded Congress and the administration for addressing this issue before businesses and associations were forced to start tracking purchases and preparing to comply with the reporting requirement next year.

IDEX California® presentations for schools, large design or architectural firms and design associations

CCIDC would like to come to your school, design firm or chapter meeting to discuss certification for interior designers. Certification is the most important and only legally recognized credential in California. For free, we will provide an educational presentation on Certification and “how to” become a Certified Interior Designer.

We will cover the history of Certification, what it takes to become a Certified Interior Designer, and why it is important to a designer’s career. The presentation can be done in as little as one hour, although one and a half hours is preferable in order to allow enough time for Q&A.
Please contact CCIDC if you would like to schedule this presentation, or would like to know more about it.

We can also add to this presentation a seminar on “Ethics and Business Practices” at the same time. Some of this material is also relevant to the IDEX California® examination.  There are no costs to participants and in the case of those who are already CIDs, they will receive CEU credit towards their continuing certification requirements.

CEU Requirement & Reporting Process

CEUs are a required part of your Certification and need to be taken regularly.
See our policy on CEUs including activities that are not included for CEU credit.

You need 10 hours (which equals 1.0 Units) every two years. The timeframe is from your Certification renewal date to renewal date (not by calendar year to calendar year).

3. Report and track your CEUs for FREE (also used to report a change in your address)
No more $12.00 reporting fees to other organizations!.

Create your own private CEU Account. You provide a login name and password, then you can access your account 24/7 (see sample view below).  It keeps track of all your CEU courses in one place, so you’ll never have to wonder how many you’ve taken. Enter CEUs from 1995 to present.
