Worth Repeating The following items were published in last months eNews. Below are excerpts from those posts.
20th Anniversary for Certification On January 1, 1991 Senate Bill 153, became lawcreating Section 5800 of the California Business & Professions Code and "certification" for interior designers.
Since 1991 there have been over 6,500 applicants and approximately 4,976 have
become certified with more currently waiting to take the IDEX California examination in March 2011.
CCIDC is a private nonprofit board
that is held accountable by the California legislature through the Sunset Review process by the Joint Legislative Sunset Review Committee (JLSRC).
CCIDC looks forward to another 20 years serving the
needs of "Certified Interior Designers" and the general public.
What will CIDs need to know about CAL Green?
CALGreen became effective as of January 1, 2011 . Very little will affect interior designers. That said, interior designers will still need to know some of the code.
Be aware of:
* Changes in plumbing fixtures and water-saving devices. * "R"-value standards for interior partitions on nonresidential buildings. * VOCs in paint and finishes.
CCIDC policy on payment acceptance We no longer accept telephone or fax payments. Fees are now accepted by U.S. mail or through our SSL encrypted secure server on the Web
(look for https://ww6.aitsafe.com/secure/secure.pht + a long string of numbers).
To pay CCIDC fees, go to http://ccidc.org/pay_fees.html and NEVER send your credit card information to anyone via e-mail!
All of the above events are good for CEU credit with CCIDC.
CIDs are required to have 1.0 credit (10 hours)
for every two years of Certification (equiv. to .5 credits = 5 hours each year). CIDs can take some of these free or low cost CEU courses.
