DECEMBER, 2007 - News for Certified Interior Designers

Seasons Greetings from the CCIDC Board!

We Wish Everyone a Very Happy Holiday
and a Prosperous New Year!

Special Announcement
Your CEU Registry is now online ~ Its easy-to-use, and its free!
Weve created a new way for you to report your CEUs to CCIDC and keep your contact information current with us. No more $12.00 reporting fees to other organizations.

Create your own private CEU account with CCIDC. You will have your own login and password and can access your page 24/7. Your registry page will store and track your CEUs, so youll never have to wonder how many CEUs youve taken.

Register today for your free account! It will  only take a minute, and you can always enter your CEUs later. The Registry will keep track of CEUs youve taken from 1995-present. So if you want to enter them retroactively to keep them all in one place, you can now do so.

Did you know? If you are a member of design organization, you can report your CEUs directly to them for no charge.

This holiday catch up on your CEUs
CIDs are required to have 1.0 credit (10 hours) for every two years of Certification (equiv. to .5 credits = 5 hours each year). Catch up on your CEU requirement this holiday by taking some of these free or low cost courses - many are offered online.

New California Building Code will be effective January 1, 2008
New book entitled "California State-Specific Access Codes" should be useful to CIDs.
20% discount is available until January 6, 2008 by using the above link which is directly to the publisher. The publisher is releasing the book to their distributors on  January 7th which is why they can't offer the discount past that date.

From the International Code Council:
Experts debate future building safety and fire prevention codes
Building safety will be front and center when code officials, architects, engineers and other building industry professionals meet to debate more than 2,200 proposed changes to the International Codes. The 2008 International Code Council Codes Forum will convene in Palm Springs, California, February 18-March 1, 2008. Proposed code changes will be considered for inclusion into the 2009 International Codes. The Code Council updates the I-Codes every three years through a governmental consensus process. The hearings are open and inclusive, allowing input from anyone and everyone in a public setting.

Participating in the code development hearings is a great opportunity to make a significant contribution to public safety, said International Code Council CEO Rick Weiland. The codes are used to guide construction so as to improve building safety and reduce risk in thousands of communities in all 50 states to safeguard the public and protect property.

All Codes Forum events are being held at the Palm Springs Convention Center. For more information on the 2008 International Code Council Codes Forum, the Wildland Urban Interface Institute, certification examinations for building officials and to register for these programs, please visit , call 1-888-ICC-SAFE (422-7233), ext. 4229 or e-mail . The International Code Council, a membership association dedicated to building safety and fire prevention, develops the codes used to construct residential and commercial buildings, including homes and schools. Building safety codes used in most U.S. cities, counties and states that adopt construction safety codes are developed by the International Code Council.

The CID Pages has received over 32,500 visits this year.

What some designers say. . .

My CID page has not been up for long, but I received a lead for a simple consulting job just four weeks ago.  It was a bulls-eye on my target market demographic, and was also a profitable project.

This may not sound like a big return for a month or two of advertising, but the cost-effectiveness of the CID pages has already beat my previous yellow pages ad, in a big way.

I hope to receive more well-qualified clients from the CID pages this year, but the truth is, my listing has already paid for itself!

- - Deborah Ogden, CID 6085

I think the page is working well. I have received several calls from the listing and many are viable jobs.  I think it is a great service!

- - Mimi Searfoss, CID 5790

It is great to have a web presence and a site to send clients. Great to be listed in a google search linked to CCIDC.

   - -
Beth Schnierow, CID 4411
